Two fish stand side by side, one bleached nearly white, the other left in deep, unfinished walnut brown, both carved with the same deep gill lines and fin ridges. The contrast between them gives the pair a sense of movement, as though one swims just ahead of the other through different water. Left unpolished, the wood grain still shows through the paint in places, keeping the piece honest to its material.
